Ahvain Rothenel is the 7th child, and 4th son of Thamior Rothenel and Yvonne Raif of Westgate. In total, the pair have 10 children, including two twins, and one set of triplets. The other children are (in order of birth) Faral, Caelynn, Suhnae, Aramil, Traularn & Nutael, Ahvain & Mindartis & Irann followed lastly by Hadarai & Lia.

Ahvain was always keen to follow in the foot steps of his father, however his human blood prevented him from becoming a blade dancer in the Elven tradition, so when he was ready to petition for work as an apprentice in Westgate, he asked to be taken to the College of Swords in Waterdeep to see if he could apply and be taken in. His father on one of his many trips agreed happily and took him as soon as he could be.

Ahvain was accepted into the college and started his studies. It was during his 4th year, just prior to taking his journeyman’s badge, that his life was to change forever. His natural talent and need to learn drove him to search places long forgotten in the school. During one of these excursions he found an old oil cloth wrapped around a curved sword, his weapon of choice in the college, a Scimitar.

As he drew the blade from the sheeth, he noted the black steel of the blade, still clean in the oil cloth, however as soon as he could see more of the blade than his hand could hide, a black cloud streamed from the blade and Ahvain passed out. When he awoke his head pounded, and it seemed more fuller…. Over the coming weeks however the truth came out, as did the other personalities now residing inside himself.

The blade, cursed by some powerful warlock, had been used by one of the personalities, and had had the souls of several people trapped inside it till released by Ahvain. They included a cleric of Kelemvor, a Druid of the Circle of Dreams, A Sorcerer of unbridled raw power and the Original owner of the blade, a Warlock. The curse that trapped them inside the blade also severing any knowledge they had gained, and while they each remember their history, they gain no benefits from them.

Each is aware of the others, each for the most part hates each other, and each wishes to be the one to gain freedom. Each comes with it’s own sets of skills, knowledge and desires, but they all crave one thing, to be the one in final control of the body they have found themselves in.

Ahvain as a result left the college on the day he gained his journeyman badge, and was headed off to try and find a way to regain complete control of his body, when he heard word of a cousin of his Tavis that had been abducted by Dragon Cult members. He has set off in search of his cousin. During his time at the college he met another performer that was studying basic weapon craft at the college, and they became friends, and so Eldon has set off with him, and is the only other person who knows of the people trapped inside Ahvain.
